Asia Media sued by former CFO

PETALING JAYA: Asia Media Group Bhd has been served with a writ and statement of claim dated Sept 5 by its former chief financial officer Ang Lay Chieng.

According to a Bursa Malaysia announcement, Ang’s (the plaintiff) claim against the company is that there are irregularities in the statutory declarations in the company’s financial statements in the financial years ended Dec 31, 2012 and Dec 31, 2013.

“The company vehemently denies the plaintiff’s allegations and claims which are totally baseless and motivated by bad faith. The company has since instructed its lawyers to file the necessary legal defence to the claim and to further consider taking out a defamation suit against the plaintiff,” Asia Media said.

Its shares closed unchanged at 8.5 sen yesterday with 4.8 million shares traded.
