WITH just over eight months to go before we start paying goods and services tax (GST), people are increasingly jittery about how things will change from April next year. Rising in tandem with that is the number of times that the authorities have come out with assurances that the transition won’t be so painful.
Among the latest attempts to allay the worries was when Customs Department director-general Datuk Seri Khazali Ahmad told Bernama last week that only one round of post-GST price hikes were expected and that it wouldn’t last long.
