SAN FRANCISCO: EBay Inc has posted a 13% rise in quarterly revenue, as it fended off increasing competition from arch-foe Amazon.com Inc and a growing number of smaller niche retail websites.
The company reported second-quarter revenue of US$4.37bil, versus US$3.88bil a year ago and the US$4.38bil that Wall Street had expected, on average. Gross merchandise value, a measure of e-commerce transactions across its main market places platform, grew 12%, in line with or slightly better than analysts’ forecasts.
