Maxis share price falls on speculation of lower payouts


PETALING JAYA: Major telecom operator Maxis Bhd saw its share price drop by 24 sen after analysts raised concerns that it would be hard pressed to maintain its attractive dividend payouts.

Maxis shares closed at RM6.66 per share, a 3.5% drop that led to it shedding RM1.8bil from its market capitalisation. Maxis’ decline also dragged down the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KL Composite Index by 2.25 points for the latter to close down 6.42 points to 1,862.8 points.
