PETALING JAYA: Troubled steel manufacturer Megasteel Sdn Bhd, a Lion Group subsidiary, is seeking at least six more years of blanket protection from the Government on the import of all flat steel products, a move that has not gone down well with downstream steel manufacturers.
Sources said Lion Group had put in a proposal to the Government seeking extended protection early this year, but that the International Trade and Industry Ministry (Miti) was against any such blanket protection.
