Lafarge-Holcim merger to form biggest cement company in world seen as positive

PETALING JAYA: A merger between France-based Lafarge and Switzerland’s Holcim – the two biggest cement manufacturers in the world – will see a positive spillover effect on the former’s Malaysian subsidiary, Lafarge Malaysia Bhd.

According to Kenanga Research in a report, should the merger be successful, the spillover effect would be seen locally as Holcim operates one plant in Pasir Gudang, Johor with an annual production capacity of 1.2 million tonnes.
