IF its press releases are anything to go by, then the Companies Commission of Malaysia (CCM) seems to have stepped up its enforcement activities lately. Between Feb 10 and March 12, the commission brought to court five cases of alleged offences under the Companies Act, and secured convictions for another eight cases.
In comparison, in the first quarters of 2011, 2012 and 2013, there were only four, seven and six cases of people respectively being charged or convicted under the Act.
