Uzma shares up on rights issue

PETALING JAYA: Uzma Bhd’s heavily discounted renounceable rights issue has roused investor interest in the stock as analysts predict that the fund-raising exercise would strengthen the group’s balance sheet and pave the way for exciting new projects.

“We believe the funds raised will be used for potential special projects such as marginal fields, enhanced oil recovery and others,” Hong Leong Investment Bank Research (HLIB Research) sector analyst Jason Tan said.
