IT is not exactly a very strong start to the year for Malaysia’s economy, with the country’s January industrial production data coming in below consensus estimates.
Nevertheless, economists say there is no need to read too much into the number yet, as slower production at the start of the year is to be expected given the festive celebrations surrounding the period. They say it may just be a temporary blip that will eventually reverse, and that the country’s economic growth remains on track.
