SINGAPORE: Standard & Poor's Ratings Services said the rating on Sarawak (A-/Stable/--; axAA/--) would not be affected by the imminent resignation of the state's long-serving Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud.
“Taib recently announced his intention to retire by the end of February 2014. The ruling party in Sarawak has given the chief minister a mandate to appoint his successor. Taib is likely to continue his political career as a senior statesman in ceremonial and advisory roles,” S&P said on Tuesday.
