Set the tone

A FEW weeks ago, in the papers, the words “social justice”, “fairness and justice for everyone” were used by a Cabinet minister to describe the rationale for a decision to withdraw a bill from being tabled.

The first thing that came to my mind was that it was a good example of “setting the tone” at the top. In this case it was the right tone – based on universal values that apply to all.
