BANGKOK: Thailand’s finance minister met the central bank’s policymaking committee and they agreed on the need to keep the baht competitive, but they did not discuss interest rates or measures to hold down the currency as financial markets had expected.
Finance Minister Kittirat Na Ranong told reporters that the meeting had focused on the economic outlook over the longer term plus government spending, new investment, exports and tourism.
