KUALA LUMPUR: British American Tobacco (Malaysia) Bhd (BAT Malaysia) reported net profit of RM204.20mil in the first quarter ended March 31, 2013, up 5% from RM194.51mil a year ago but it remained cautiously optimistic due to the growth in illegal white cigarettes.
It said on Tuesday revenue rose 5.1% to RM1.095bil from RM1.042bil. Earnings per share were 71.70 sen. It rewarded shareholders with a dividend of 68 sen a share, which was hgehr than the 65 sen a year ago.
