Hwang-DBS takes centre stage

THE race to get the investment banking business of Hwang-DBS (M) Bhd is on now that it has obtained permission from Bank Negara to commence preliminary negotiations with Affin Holdings Bhd and AMMB Holdings Bhd its two suitors.

Granted, both Affin and AMMB are looking to strengthen their fund management and equities business and Hwang-DBS, whose founder Datuk Seri Hwang Sing Lue passed away in December, is strong in these and can help them do just that.
