BANGKOK: Thailand's exports fell 5.8% in February from a year earlier due to tepid global demand, giving the government ammunition to press the central bank for lower interest rates in order to slow capital inflows that have strengthened the baht.
Economists, however, expect the Bank of Thailand to leave rates on hold as the economy is growing well, thanks to domestic demand, and it also has concerns over the pace of credit growth.
