Maybank eyes Thai consumer bank

IT isn't a secret that Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) has long harboured ambitions of a consumer bank in Malaysia's neighbour to the north.

For its chief steward Datuk Seri Wahid Omar, this is but “a matter of time”, conceivably the final piece of the puzzle that would give it commercial banking operations across all key Asean markets.
