Audit board raps two for breach

PETALING JAYA: The Audit Oversight Board (AOB) has reprimanded auditors Alvin Tee Guan Pian and Liew Tip Chan for breaching the board’s registration conditions under section 310(4) of the Securities Commssion Act 1993.

According to the AOB in announcements on the Securities Commission (SC) website, Tee had failed to comply with the relevant requirements of the recognised Malaysian auditing standards, which are the International Standards on Auditing.

Tee is a partner of UHY Malaysia, who was the engagement partner in the audit of a public interest entity (PIE) for the financial year ended July 31, 2010. Liew is the sole proprietor of T.C. Liew & Co and was the engagement partner in the audit of a PIE for the financial year ended Jan 31, 2011.
