What does improved rankings for M'sia and others mean?

WE can be justifiably proud when we get high rankings and improve our standing in the international business and economic community for they give recognition and independent validation to our efforts to better ourselves.

They are also a chance to benchmark ourselves against the best in the world and to see where we stand. Unless we know our position, realise what we are lacking in, and make sustained and intelligent remedial efforts it is difficult to improve.
