VEGOILS-Market factors to watch Oct 29(Monday)

KUALA LUMPUR: The following factors are likely to influence Malaysian palm oil futures and other vegetable oil markets on Monday.

FUNDAMENTALS

* Malaysian palm oil futures rose to a near 1-month high on Thursday on encouraging export data that showed firm demand and some short-covering ahead of a holiday weekend in parts of Asia.

* U.S. soybeans slipped for a second straight day on Friday on signs of waning U.S. exports and improving crop weather prospects in South America that could lead to bumper output in Brazil and Argentina.

* Brent oil rose a second day on Friday, recovering from an early decline as supportive U.S. economic data coupled with North Sea and Nigerian production problems yielded some relief from concerns about Spain and tepid global demand.

MARKET NEWS

* Asian shares edged higher on Monday after global equities ended last week on a subdued note, with investors torn between signs of stable growth in the United States and caution over the global corporate earnings outlook.

* Worries about burgeoning crop supply pushed agricultural markets down on Friday, causing commodities to close broadly lower despite gains in oil and metals prices.
