Power builder: Currently, Malakoff is Malaysia’s largest independent power producer, with a net generating capacity of 5,020MW from its six power plants, including the coal-fired plant in Tanjung Bin.
KUALA LUMPUR: Malakoff Corp Bhd
has started the construction of its RM6.5bil Tanjung Bin power plant in Johor.
In a statement, Malakoff said the power plant was scheduled to be completed by 2016. It said the new 1,000MW project, which was awarded to Malakoff in June last year by the Energy Commission, would ramp up Tanjung Bin’s current generating capacity of 2,100MW to a total of 3,100MW.
