KUALA LUMPUR: AHMAD ZAKI RESOURCES BHD's (AZRB) wholly-owned subsidiary Peninsular Medical Sdn Bhd (PenMedic) will appoint Advance Pact Sdn Bhd for a 21-year hospital facilities management services agreement at the new International Islamic University Malaysia's (IIUM) Teaching Hospital in Kuantan, Pahang under a RM600mil deal.

Advance Pact is a bumiputra-owned company which had begun business in the year 2000 and is also under the Government's Unit Peneraju Agenda Bumiputera (Teraju).

The agreement signed yesterday will see Advance Pact providing hospital facilities management services for the IIUM Hospital which will commence only in the year 2015 until 2036. This follows after the Higher Education Ministry and IIUM in September last year signed a 25-year concession agreement with PenMedic for the development of the IIUM Hospital through a private financing initiative on the design, build, lease, maintain and transfer (DBLMT) basis.

The hospital's expected completion date is mid-2015 and once completed will have a capacity of 300 beds.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop, who commended AZRB for helping to develop bumiputra companies including providing opportunities to companies under Teraju.

Advance Pact is also a biomedical engineering contractor for Medivest Sdn Bhd, of which the latter is a hospital support services concession company presently for 23 other government owned hospitals in Negri Sembilan, Malacca and Johor.
