PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Plastics Manufacturers Association (MPMA), while supportive of the government's call for minimum wage, is concerned that a sudden implementation may render companies uncompetitive.
Speaking at a joint press conference with various industry associations, MPMA president Lim Kok Boon said that a sudden and substantial increase in wages will result in higher cost of production unless it is in tandem with higher productivity.
