IT'S that time of the year when one remark, in different permutations, seems to dominate our conversations. It's about how the year flew by so fast.

So a typical conversation would go something like this: “Wow, it's December already. The year just went by in a blur,” you say. And then your friend replies: “Yeah, it's like there are fewer than 365 days in 2011. Even the 24-hour day seems shorter than usual.”
