New Act gives Bank Negara more enforcement powers


PETALING JAYA: Bank Negara now has more enforcement powers to act against wrongdoings by money changing, remittance and wholesale currency businesses.

In a statement, the central bank said the new Money Services Business Act 2011, which came into force yesterday, supported the development of a more dynamic, competitive and professional money services business industry, while strengthening the safeguards against money laundering, terrorist financing and illegal activities.
