SINGAPORE: Singapore's Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 5.4 per cent in Oct 2011 compared to a year ago, reflecting mainly higher costs of accommodation, private road transport and food.
In a statement today, the Department of Statistics said the higher cost of accommodation was due to higher imputed rentals of owner-occupied accommodation while the higher cost of private road transport was mainly driven by a significant increase in Certificate of Entitlement premiums as well as higher petrol prices.
