Maybank Q1 profit up 25% to RM1.3bil on loan growth


PETALING JAYA: Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) made a net profit of RM1.29bil or 17.20 sen per share for the first quarter ended Sept 30, 25% higher than the RM1.03bil or 14.53 sen per share made in the same period last year, due mostly to growth in the group's loans and better bad debt recovery.

Revenue for the period stood at RM6.07bil, 21% higher than RM5bil a year ago.
