PETALING JAYA: Research analysts are sceptical about Proton Holdings Bhd's potential tie-up with Hawtai Motor Group Ltd in China, citing past preliminary deals such as a recent one with Japan's Nissan Motor Co Ltd that failed to pan out as hoped.
Analysts contacted by StarBiz also said Proton had not enjoyed significant success in the world's largest car market despite its present joint venture with Youngman Automobile Group which retails rebadged Proton Gen2 cars in China.
