KUALA LUMPUR: The purchase of shale gas reserves in Canada by Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) is a signal that the oil giant has not turned away from expanding its international operations and is set to take advantage of the long-term prospects for liquefied natural gas (LNG).
The acquisition is also designed to improve the quality of Petronas' international operations, which according to management, has not been a slam dunk in a number of areas where it operates in.
