PETALING JAYA: The call by Bank Negara for banking institutions to have higher capital to support risks in trading activities, securitisation and counterparty credit exposures is not expected to have an immediate impact on the capital position of banks.
Malaysian Rating Corp Bhd (MARC) vice-president and head of financial institution ratings Anandakumar Jegarasasingam (pic) said the move by the central bank was not expected to impact the whole banking sector but only those active in risk trading and securitisation.
