KUANTAN: Pahang State Economic Development (SEDC) has launched a one-stop resource centre portal for investors and companies.
Its chief executive officer Datuk Lias Mohd Noor said the move allowed the agency to promote business activity through continued investment and attract investors to new growth areas, especially in the industrial sector.
Called Invest-In-Pahang, the portal served as a platform providing interactive, real-time question and answer session with SEDC investment specialist. It highlights various business and investment opportunities available in the state.
“It also provides online self-service applications such as web forms, online registration and brochure download, Lias said at the portal launch by Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob and Pahang SEDC’s Hari Raya open house last Thursday.
Lias said the portal contained a directory of relevant important departments and agencies and allows quick access to websites like Mida’s,” he added.
Adnan in his speech, said Pahang continued to attract investments worth between RM1bil and RM1.5bil annually despite the economy slowdown.
He also reminded the agency’s management to update the portal by including the latest facts and figures about Pahang.
Adnan who is also Pahang SEDC’s chairman added that the agency would be able to move more aggressively after 2012 once all its debts were settled.
“There is something good in store for the agency, staff and state once the debts are settled by 2012.
“Pahang SEDC will be a strong and sound agency by that time,’’ Adnan said.
At a press conference later, Lias said about 90% of the the agency’s annual turnover was utilised to pay the debts, mainly due to the economic crisis.
He added that Pahang SEDC’s annual turnover was between RM80mil and RM90mil.
