LONDON: Britain's gambling regulator will not pursue expensive criminal prosecutions against betting cheats when it feels sports bodies can apply their own sanctions quicker and cheaper.
Justifying why the Gambling Commission can appear inert, Nick Tofiluk, who oversees its Sports Betting Intelligence Unit, insisted on Tuesday that much of the evidence gathered during investigations is often not strong enough to secure convictions in court.
