ON Merdeka Day, 10 years ago, barely a few months after I had joined The Star, I wrote a piece entitled “The joys of being a Malaysian”.
As I reread this article 10 years on and looked at the many names I mentioned that reflected the ethnically-mixed neighbourhood that I live in, I feel a sense of satisfaction that we have not grown apart.
