Major breakout may be imminent

REVIEW: Dismal economic data and disappointing earnings results from several big names, such as General Electric Co, Bank of America Corp and Citigroup Inc pulled the Dow Jones Industrial Average down by a hefty 261.41 points to 10,097.90 and crude oil futures by 61 cents to US$76.01 a barrel the previous Friday.

Mirroring the negative offshore tone, share prices on Bursa Malaysia kicked off the week on a soft note, with the FBM Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (FBM KLCI) dropping 2.73 points to 1,333.92.
