BEIJING: China disclosed widespread corruption Thursday linked to its multibillion dollar stimulus, announcing that thousands of officials have been jailed for embezzlement and other abuses.
Local officials including several mayors received penalties of up to life in prison for stealing stimulus money, taking bribes to approve building projects and other crimes, a deputy minister of the Ministry of Supervision said at a news conference.
