SINGAPORE (AP) - Oil prices rose slightly to near $71 a barrel Tuesday in Asia after fears a European debt crisis could halt a global economic recovery sparked a two-week, 20-percent sell-off.
Benchmark crude for June delivery was up 60 cents to $70.68 a barrel at midday Singapore time in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The June contract dropped $1.53, or 2.1 percent, to $70.08, a three-month low.
