PETALING JAYA: Asian markets tumbled yesterday due to a Wall Street sell-off on Thursday which was triggered by concerns that Greece’s debt problems will spread to other countries in Europe and hurt global economic recovery.
The sell-off briefly erased more than US$1 trillion in market value in the US market as the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) fell almost 1,000 points.
