REVIEW: US Equities suffered a steep fall the previous Friday to close the worst week since January, as prosecutors in New York began an investigation into Goldman Sachs, raising the possibility of criminal charges two weeks after the Securities and Exchange Commission accused the bank of fraud. The news unnerved investors already anxious about the prospects for heavy regulation from Washington, pulling the overnight Dow Jones Industrial Average down a hefty 158.71 points to 11,008.61.
A slower-than-expected US economic growth in the first quarter added to investor caution. Like the Asian peers, Bursa Malaysia started out the week on a soft platform, with the benchmark FBM Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (FBM KLCI) easing 2.14 points to 1,344.24 in initial deals.
