BERLIN: Struggling German retail giant Arcandor, which owns the Kardstadt chain and a majority share of Thomas Cook, could fail, the German finance minister warned yesterday, as the company’s share price tumbled.
“A bankruptcy is not totally excluded,” Peer Steinbrueck told ARD television, adding: “Shareholders must assume their responsibilities” with respect to the group’s long-running problems.
