A decade has gone by since the Government issued its Report on Corporate Governance. It was a watershed development that rose from the ashes of the Asian financial crisis, reflecting the sobering fact that a key element in regaining investor confidence in Malaysia was better corporate governance (CG) standards.
In March 1998, then Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that a high-level committee would be formed to look into establishing a framework for corporate governance (CG) and setting best practices.
