There is no doubt the global financial meltdown has taken a heavy toll on the jobs market. The number of layoffs is soaring across the globe as companies resort to cut jobs to stay in business.
Early in the week, the International Labour Organisation, a United Nations agency, said up to 51 million jobs worldwide could be wiped out by the year-end as a result of the economic slowdown.
