CANBERRA, Australia (AP) - The Australian government said it would consider programs allowing East Timorese to gain temporary work visas in Australia, after a meeting between the two countries' prime ministers Monday.
Creating job opportunities in East Timor, where youth unemployment runs to 80 percent, was a major focus of talks between Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and his East Timorese counterpart, Xanana Gusmao, at Parliament House.
