Italian link opens new avenues for MAE in Asia-Pacific

LONDON: The inking of an agreement between Malaysia Airlines (MAS) unit MAS Aerospace Engineering (MAE) and Italy’s Finmeccanica Co has opened new avenues for MAE to tap the virtually unexploited turbo prop aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) business in the Asia-Pacific region.

There are currently over 160 turbo props in the region that have to fly to France for their MRO. Over the next few years, over 270 new turbo props will enter the market place and all these need to be serviced.
