WELLINGTON (AP) - Rising petrol and food prices pushed New Zealand's annual inflation rate to 4 percent in the year that ended June 30, after the Consumer Price Index rose a higher-than-expected 1.6 percent in the latest quarter, the government said Tuesday.
Government agency Statistics New Zealand noted that annual inflation had been 3.4 percent in the year ended March 31, and with the latest figure, inflation has been above the central bank's 1 percent to 3 percent target band for three successive quarters.
