PETALING JAYA: CIMB Bank Bhd has selected Wincor Nixdorf's cash deposit technologies for the expansion of its extensive self-service terminal (SST) network.

Wincor Nixdorf said in a statement in addition to the 650 systems that accept cash deposits, the bank would install 680 cash dispensers. The rollout would be completed by end-2008.

As most Asian economies remained cash-oriented resulting in high volumes of low-denomination banknotes in circulation, fast growing banks in the region were seeking ways to benefit from this trend, it said.

Fast growing banks were choosing to migrate their deposit and withdrawal transactions to self-service. In doing so, they were increasingly installing cash-in systems offering bigger banknote capacities to automate the deposit process, it said.

Wincor Nixdorf will provide the installation service and assume responsibility for ATM maintenance.
