THE Securities Commission (SC) took a more pragmatic approach to enforcement last year as it pursued, where appropriate, a larger number of civil and administrative actions to exercise its criminal prosecution powers.
The SC said where there was a chance that investors could recover their money, it had sought civil restitution in the courts and where the public was misled by false financial information, criminal charges were preferred.
