KUANTAN: A homestay programme will be introduced in Sungai Lembing, a popular tourism attraction in Pahang, by the end of the year.
According to Pahang Tourism Action Council general manager Mohd Idrus Yahya, it was high time that the former tin mining town had such a programme as it was rich in history as well as natural products that should be given more exposure.
“We have now embarked on a process to include Sungai Lembing in a homestay programme with the Tourism Ministry.
“The process takes about six months as we want to ensure that the facilities in the homes of the participants are suitable and meet standards.
“We should be able to have the programme launched by end of the year,'' he said after opening a seminar on homestay in Sungai Lembing here on Tuesday.
More than 60 participants took part in the one-day seminar aimed at creating awareness on the programme and its benefits.
