Trans-Asia Shipping awarded six-year pre-inspection deal with Honda

KUALA LUMPUR: Integrated logistics solutions provider Trans-Asia Shipping Corp Bhd (TASCO), has clinched a six-year deal to lease its logistics centre in Bangi to Honda (M) Sdn Bhd as its pre-delivery inspection (PDI) centre for Honda's Complete Built-up Unit (CBU) cars in Malaysia. 

In a statement, TASCO said it expected a 10% return on investment per annum for the duration of the lease agreement. 

TASCO will also provide other value-added services including installation of car accessories, maintenance, washing and polishing of the cars before delivery. 

The lease agreement, which will commence from March 1, was signed between TASCO managing director Lee Check Poh and Honda Malaysia managing director Atsushi Fujimoto. 

TASCO said with the estimated cost of RM8.5mil, the construction of Bangi PDI centre would be funded by the proceeds raised via its recent initial public offering (IPO) exercise. 

The Bangi PDI centre can accommodate more than 800 cars, which will be mainly imported from Japan and Thailand. To provide quick turnaround time for Honda, the Bangi PDI centre is offers Puspakom and Customs clearance services. – Bernama
