TOKYO: NTT DoCoMo Inc, Japan's biggest mobile-phone operator, said yesterday its quarterly profit rose 35% on lower costs to sell handsets, and it stuck to its full-year forecast for a small profit gain.
The wireless carrier has seen subscribers defect to smaller rivals KDDI Corp and Softbank Corp, with Softbank snatching up new users with discounts and advertising blitz in a saturated market.
