DALLAS: Deutsche Lufthansa AG agreed to buy a 19% stake in US discount carrier JetBlue Airways Corp for US$300mil, giving Europe's second largest airline a partner to help steer US fliers to trans-Atlantic flights.
The deal would provide a quick cash infusion to JetBlue after two annual losses, and might help Cologne, Germany-based Lufthansa collect US travellers at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport, the centre of JetBlue's operations.
