BANGI: Companies Commission of Malaysia (CCM) will officially launch e-Lodgement, an online registration of businesses and companies by this year-end.
The web-based services will enable companies and individuals to renew and register their businesses 24 hours at their convenience.
CCM deputy chief executive officer Zahrah Abdul Wahab Fenner said about 1,666 businesses had been registered online as of June 5 this year.
"We are running the services on a trial basis now and should be able to launch it officially some time later this year," she said in a press conference after a CCM briefing on business registration and e-services to the public on Tuesday.
She added that the positive feedback proved that Malaysians are becoming more IT savvy and willing to adapt to changes.
"The online service also will eliminate the usage of agents as middlemen who sometimes overcharge to register a company or business.
"It only takes RM30 to RM60 to register a new business or company," she said.
She added that the e-Lodgement service was collaboration with the Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (MAMPU).
To date, theres 3.38 million businesses and 773,859 companies registered with CCM.
